N.Z. JUNIOR TITLES AT MIRAMAR
10 PLAYERS BREAK 80 IN FIRST ROUND

In spite of a blustering cold, northwesterly wind 10 players broke 80 in the first round of the open junior golf championships which began at the Miramar course to-day. The scratch score is 72. There are 84 entrants from all over New Zealand. The championships are divided into two classes—players under 21 and under 17.
In the under 21 contest G. Lees (Titirangi, Auckland), and R. D. Kearns (Christchurch) headed the field with cards of 76. In second place came B. Colquhoun (St. Clair, Dunedin), and D. Brodie (Castlecliff, Wanganui), who scored 77. J. Stern (Shannon) ,J. W. Clark (Paraparaumu), B. Fuller (Manawatu). and W. Lancaster (Manawatu) returned cards of 78, and D. Ramsay (Christchurch) and J. W. Johnston (Russley, Christchurch) cards of 79. - '
Stern, Clarke, and Colquhoun headed the under 17 years’ section. The second round of both contests will be played to-morrow. A demonstration of shot-making was given in the afternoon by the Miramar Club professional, A. J. Shaw. 1
