NEPTUNE PLANES FOR AUSTRALIA
(Rec. 7 p.ip.) SYDNEY. August 29. Royal Australian Air Force crews will fly two Lockhead Neptune antisubmarine patrol aeroplanes to Australia before the end of the year. The Neptunes are the first of an undisclosed number to be flown out for the Royal Australian Air Force and the crews are members of a party of 26 Royal Australian Air Force officers who were sent to the United States some months ago for training on Neptunes.
Wing Commander K. R- Persons, Director of Royal Australian Air Force Operations, who has just returned from America, said that most of the apparatus in the Neptune is still on the secret list. The aeroplane can carry bombs, depth charges, torpedoes, and rockets.
