Breaking of Strike
"I sincerely hope that we, as employers will never forget that this last strike was not broken by the Government, although it did everything ft could and provided the necessary framework,” said Mr P. Harrison, a past president, in an address to the Auckland Rotary Club. "It was broken by the responsible labour unions. It was not you or I or members of the Government who were bashed, who had to have police protection, whose wives were on the verge of nervous breakdowns—-it was the leaders. of. responsible labour. They proved their .L—.-; their courage."
