DEATH ROLL FROM HURRICANE
MEXICO CITY, August 27. Hurricane-borne rains have drowned nine persons in the El Mante region of Mexico. The Mayor of El Mante said that soldiers were seeking other bodies. These deaths brought the hurricane’s toll to at least 212. It had killed 156 persons in Jamaica, three in Tampico, Mexico, one in Tuxpan, Mexico, one outside El Mante, and caused the bursting of a dam at Cardenas with the subsequent drowning of 42 persons. President Miguel Aleman of Mexico to-day ordered the paratroop company of the Presidential Guard to jump over the flooded areas of eastern Mexico with food and medicine for thousands of marooned persons.
