LAND AUCTIONS
THREE LITTLE RIVER BLOCKS SOLD
Considerable interest was taken in the sale by auction in Christchurch yesterday of three grazing properties at Little River. Bidding for the largest block—almost 303 acres—on the Little River-Port Levy road, about two miles and a half from Little River, opened at £2O an acre and the property was finally sold to Mr J. R. Stanbury (Little River) for £27 an acre. ' A section of between 13 and 14 acres on the Little River-Akaroa main highway, close to Little River, drew bids from £BOO to £lOOO, and it was sold to Mr Norman Wright (Little River). There was particularly keen competition for a section of a little more than three acres on the main Little River-Akaroa highway close to the domain, school, and tennis courts. Mr J. Karatai (Little River) bought the section for £565. All three blocks were offered on account of the estate of Thomas Thompson. A dairy farm of 1341 acres, with a five-roomed bungalow, at Coopers Creek, five miles from Oxford, was passed in at £36 an acre after bidding had started at £32. There was limited interest in this sale.
