ATTITUDE AT GREYMOUTH

“NO CHANGE IN POLICY ” (From Our Own Reporter) - GREYMOUTH. July 4. The policy of the union at Greymouth was still the same and supported the national policy, said the president of the deregistered Greymouth watersiders’ union (Mr W. Meates) this afternoon. Any return to work would have to be with the full agreement of other watersiders, he said, A meeting of the national executive of the deregistered union was to be held next Tuesday, and the national policy would be discussed then, Mr Meates said. “It is possible that the policy might be changed from what it has been, but I do not know.” Greymouth watersiders were making no move to return to work independently of the other striking unions, Mr Meates added. No statement .was released after meetings yesterday at Westport and Greymouth, at which leaders of the watersiders’ union branches met miners’ representatives.
