VITAL STATISTICS
There were 68 more births in the Christchurch district last month than in April. 1950. There were also more deaths, but five fewer marriages. The vital statistics for the month as supplied by the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Mr A. A. Besley) are as follows (figures for April, 1950, in parenthesis): births. 351 (283); deaths, 167 (138): marriage notices. 141 (147); marriages by registrar, 27 (26). The figures for the four months period ended yesterday and the same period last year are:—births, 1394 (1375); deaths. 600 (558); marriage notices. 695 (685); marriages by registrar, 129 (131).
