FLOODING AT OXFORD
Sir,—”’o-day I had occasion to travel to Oxford and was shocked to find a river flowing down the main highway from Bennetts. Thirty years ago I used to be up that way ana I am sure that the condition of the road, rivers, and creeks up there is now worse now than it was then. Can the county councils concerned or the Catchment Board let me know if any attempt whatsoever has been made to keep the water to its courses in the last 90 years,’or if any creek or river maintenance at all has been done.Yours, etc., TRAVELLER. April 3. 1951, [“Proposals for dealing with flooding in the vicinity of Bennetts are at Bresent8 resent receiving consideration from le Oxford County Council and the Catchment Board, said the clerk of the North Canterbury Catchment Board (Mr W. W. Brough) when this letter was referred to him.]
