RAIL-CAR RUNS INTO FALL OF ROCK
COW-CATCHER DAMAGED From Our Own Reporter GREYMOUTH, April 11. The cow-catcher on the rail-car from Westport was damaged when the rail-car ran into a fall of rock at the portal of No. 6 tunnel, between Tekura and Cascade, not far from Westport, this afternoon. The railcar, which had been travelling slowly, was unable to proceed. No one was injured. There was a second rail-car at Westport, and this was brought into service. though delay prevented connexion with the West Coast-€hrist-church unit ,at Stillwater. Westport passengers had to travel to Canterbury on the night goods train. The Westport rail-car reached Greymouth one and a half hours late.
It is hoped that the damaged railcar’s cow-catcher can be repaired and the vehicle again brought into use by the week-end.
