SERIOUS DELAY IN SPRING SOWING
(Rec. 8 p.fn.) LONDON, April 10. The Government has announced that Spring crop sowing Is seriously behind schedule because of continued rain and cold. Thousands Of acres across England are flooded, and rising rivers have presented farmers with one of their blackest prospects tor years, Twenty important roads in 10 counties were reported impassable last night. The river Severn, at Worcester, rofee three and a half feel above normal. The river OuSe. rising a foot in n few hours, burst its banks in Bedfordshire, flooding villages, and forcing boats into service, in lAHtestershlre and Lincolnshire, rattle had to be removed from flooded fields. Losses of iambs are described as heavy. The Thames flooded homes in outlying sections of London, its daily rate of flow is now 5,000,000 rtllohs. Compared with the normal 1,000,000.
