. British, U.S. Talks Opened
Informal talk* yesterday on joint measures to solve the problem created by Persia’s decision to nationalise her oil industry, A communique issued after the meeting said that the two Governments recognised that questions relating to Persian oil must be settled elsewhere. It expressed the hope that co-opera-tion with Persia would continue, in view of the importance of her oil to the free world’s economy. The British Ambassador. Sir Oliver Franks, and the United States Assist-ant-Secretary of State (Mr George McGhee) headed the talks Sir Oliver Franks said that a comprehensive staietocht oh the BfLiSh and American viewpoint wnuld be issued at the end of the meetings.
