REHABILITATION LOANS

£85,592,251 WORTH TO END OF 1950 Rehabilitation loans worth £85,592,251 had been authorised for 161,660 former servicemen and women by the end of December. In December 1006 loans were authorised valued at £1,299,712. Loans have been for farms, businesses, houses, furniture, tools of trade and other miscellaneous

Loans to purchase farms were increased to 7404 which involved finance worth £33,069,574. This includes 1359 former servicemen settled on Crown lands. At the end of December housing loans had been brought to a total of 34.424 worth £41,866,663. There were 444 for December, valued at £665,934. There have been 15.254 building loans authorised, worth £22,622423 and 19,170 purchase loans worth £19,243,740. The 252 building loans for December were valued at £442,432 and the 192 purchase loans for the same period entailed £223,502. Included in the total figures to date are 18,341 supplementary loans involving £2,603,188, but 2218 suspensory loans involving £409,970 are not included. Ineluding 13,788 who have been allocated State rental houses and the 7404 who have been placed on farms of their own, the number of former servicemen and women who have been given direct housing assistance through rehabilitation was 55416 at the end of December. Other loan assistance to date is: Loens to purchase or establish businesses, 9512 (£6418411); for December 83 (£60.882); free-of-interest loans to purchase furniture, 48455 (£4,474427); for December 395 (£37482); free-of-inter-est loans to purchase tools of trade 1416 (£46458); for December nil (nil); loans for miscellaneous purposes 549 (£116418). for December 5 (£585).
