HEALTH STAMPS

From October 2, the day on which the 1950-51 health stamp campaign opened, until October 31, health stamps to the value of £14,358 were sold in the Christchurch postal district. This is a record for the district. Only a limited number of stamps remain to be sold and it is expected that these, most of which are lid stamps, will be bought for postage for Christmas cards.

Members of the stamps sales committee have been responsible for the staffing of the booth for the sale of health stamps in the vestibule of the Chief Post Office in Christchurch and have done splendid business. Arrangements had been made, before the campaign opened, for representatives of women’s organisations to continue this service until December 24. but the chairman of the committee (Miss M. Enright), after consultation with post office officials, announced yesterday that after Friday, November 17, the voluntary sellers would discontinue their valuable work and the’ remaining stamps, if any, would be sold by the post office staff.
