FOUR PERSONS INJURED

CAR PLUNGES DOWN 75 FEET CLIFF Three men and a woman, all of Hanmer Springs, had a lucky escape from serious injury when the car- in which they were travelling left the road from Culverden at Marble Point about 8 p.m. on Sunday and plunged down a 75 feet cliff face. The car. after turning over several times, came to a stop on a ledge about 45 feet above Jhe Waiau river. All four persons were injured. They were: Mr J. O. Glynn, a hospital porter, head and spinal injuries; Mr Cliff Riordan, a farm worker, head injuries; Miss Rule, a nursing aid. lacerations to the legs and hands; Mr F. Bowring, contusions. With the exception of Mr Bowring, all were admitted to the Queen Mary Hospital at Hanmer Springs, Mr Bowring was treated in the outpatients’ department. Mr Glynn was trans'erred to the Christchurch Public Hospital by St. John Ambulance yesterday. The condition of those admitted to hospital was reported to be satisfactory last evening.
