OUTSTANDING SEASON CANTERBURY CENTRE’S ANNUAL REPORT “The last season has been an outstanding one for atheltics in New Zealand, and the marked degree of public interest fostered by the British Empire Games ot 1950 has had a beneficial effect on tne sport in Canterbury as in other parts or the country,” says the report of the canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association to be presentea at the annual meeting on September za. “Several of our Christchurch meetings have been outstanding, and the visit of some of the Empire Games athletes produced the largest financial windfall ever achieved in the history of athletics in Canterbury.
