SOVIET MESSAGE TO KURDS

SUPPORT OF REBELS IN PERSIA (Rec. 9 p.m.) TEHERAN, Sept. 5. The Russian Azerbaijan radio, broadcasting to the Kurdish rebels in Persia, said: “If war breaks out the Kurdish nation will fight shoulder to shoulder with the Soviet Army against imperialism.” A small army of rebel trioesmen has been fighting a fierce battle with Persian Government troops in the Kermanshah Province, on the Persian □order with Iraq. It started when 4000 Javanrudi tribesmen and their families refused to accept a Teheran ultimatum to surrender their arms and ammunition in compliance with the Government s policy of tribal disarmament. Persian bombers made at least six attacks, demolishing many mud huts and tents.

A Persian Government official said mat the Javanrudi were a Kurdish tribe which intended creating an independent Kurdish State. They were expected to surrender in a day or two.
