A MISDIRECTED APPEAL?
Sir, —I have just received a letter from a friend in Australia. Over the stamp the New South Wales Government has printed in block letters the words: “Life is precious; help to prevent accidents.” This is curious, as the warning was obviously intended for Mr Ernest Bevin and his somnolent Government. lam afraid that there is little I can do about it beyond drawing your attention to such a piece of carelessness. —Yours, etc., September 5, 195Qi
