DR. HEWLETT JOHNSON
Sir, —Many people who have been in a quandary regarding the relationship between the Dean of Canterbury. Dr. Hewlett Johnson, and the high dignitaries of . the Anglican Church will appreciate the clarification tendered by the Archbishop of Canterbury. Dr. D. F. Fisher. The assumption made by this gentleman that the Dean “is completely unrepresentative of the Church of England and of this country” implies that those sections of the British populace are not in any way perturbed over the efforts of professional warmongers to arrange a future holocaust as a solution of economic problems peculiar to an order based upon “spoils tn the victor.” The hierarchy of the church, conscious of its existence as an integral part of the existing economy, has a case against peace, as sponsored by the Dean of Canterbury. but. the Archbishop's proclamation, dissociatin'?, his organisation from efforts <m behalf of peace, is helpful guidance to disillusion. —Yours, etc., D.H.C.
