MURDER OF CHINESE
REWARD OF £5OO FOR INFORMATION Zealand Press Association) , AUCKLAND. May 26. A reward of £5OO for material information leading to the arrest of the murderer of Lee Hoy Chong, aged 47. will be offered by the middle of next week, the Minister in charge of the Police Department (Mr W. H. Fortune) said to-night. The reward will carry the usual indemnity against prosecution of any accomplice, not being the person who actually caused Chong’s death, who first gives such information. No new developments have occurred and the police have reached a stalemate in their inquiries. Many persons have been questioned, but no clear motive for the murder has been uncovered. Tlie Commissioner of Police (Mr J. Bruce Young), who is visiting Auckland, conferred to-day with the detectives engaged on the case. He also visited the scene of the murder.
