CHARTERED CLUB OFFICER FINED The prosecution was the first of its; I kind for many years and could be ’ I taken as a warning to officers of chart- ! j ered clubs that the licensing laws had to be obeyed, said Mr Raymond Fer-I ner, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at! Rangiora yesterday, when he fined ■ John Barrett (Mr W. R. Lascelles), the I secretary of the Oxford Working Men’s; Club, £2, for allowing liquor to be; consumed in the club during prohibited; hours.
