DUTCH FARM WORKERS

100 MORE TO COME FROM INDONESIA

Another 100 single Dutchmen who wish to work on New Zealand farms will be chosen by a selection committee in Jakarta about the middle of March, and are expected to arrive in New Zealand about the end of April. All the selected men, who are believed to be members of the Dutch Army in Indonesia, will have had some experience of farm work in their homeland. >

Federated Farmers has already begun inquiries about vacancies for Dutch workers in New Zealand, and the Department of Labour and Employment wishes to know of all farmers who want Dutch farm labour. If all farmers notify district offices of the department as soon as possible, it will be possible to notify the Dutch authorities if there are more than 100 vacancies, and it may be possible to arrange for nrore men to be sent out as immigrants. A number of Dutchmen are already working on farms in New Zealand, and practically without exception the employers have been enthusiastic about the immigrants’. keenness to learn New Zealand methods.
