CHARGE AGAINST ALBANIA
TERRORISM SAID TO BE WIDESPREAD BROADCAST BY JUGOSLAV RADIO (Rec. 8.40 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 5. The Belgrade correspondent of the Associated Press says that widespread terrorism in Albania was reported today by the Belgrade radio in a broadcast said to be based on statements from refugees who fled to Jugoslavia to escape hardships, possible imprisonment, or death. The account came two days after Jugoslavia had said that Albania was failing to live up to the conditions of the treaty of friendship between the countries. A The radio said that Albanian terrorism had increased steadily, particularly against those suspected of sympathising with Marshal Tito’s campaign for “equal rights” in the Communist circle.
The Associated Press correspondent says that with scant contacts between Albania and the West there is little direct possibility of measuring political sentiment in Albania. It is probable that there is growing resentment against the Russian-dominated regime there. According to refugees there is a curfew from 6 p.m. in border areas.
