PRODUCTION OF COAL
RECORD OUTPUT EXPECTED (New Zealand Press Association.)
DUNEDIN, November 5. It was expected that there would be a record output of coal in New Zealand this year the Minister of Mines (Mr A. McLagan) said to-day. Last year, production was better than the year before and production was up by 101,000 tons in the first nine months of this year. “If things go normally until the end of December, we will have the highest _> pro .SJd c . tion ever .” the Minister added. This has been done with the seven-hour day, which some people claimed would be ruinous to the industry.”
