CASHMERE WATER SUPPLY
It was hoped to afford relief to gardeners above the “drought iine” in Cashmere some time this week, said the inspector of the Heathcote County Council (Mr E. F. Johnson). He was replying to a question on the possib'e duration of the water restrictions placed on the upper Cashmere district a fortnight ago, because of a breakdown in the pumping svstem Mr Johnson said that the council had been able to get a pump without much trouble to replace the one 'b-t had broken down, but the main difficulty had been to obtain a 50 horsepower motor to drive it.
