INCOME TAX INQUIRY

Sir, —I am thinking of going to Australia to live, and would like to know if my income (which is small), which I would have sent from New Zealand, would be taxed in both countries? — Yours, etc., INQUIRER. October 9. 1949.

[The Minister of Finance (Mr Nash) replies: “Discussions are now going on between the Governments of Australia and New Zealand with a view to arranging a reciprocal agreement which would avoid double taxation. In the meantime any income earned in New Zealand is subject to income tax in the ordinary way.”]
