OLDEST HOUSE IN CHRISTCHURCH

Sir,—l have seen Mr Harman’s request for photographs and particulars of old houses in Christchurch. I have in my possession a photograph of a house built by my father, the late Mr T. Prior, in 1851. The house is not now stariding but it and another house built by Mi Bray were situated on what was later the property of Mr G. Witty, M.P, at Avonhead. If Mr Harman is interested, I will send him the photograph and any other particulars I know. I an? nearly 86. and although I was not born in the house mentioned, several of my brothers and sisters were born there. —Yours, etc., H. PRIOR. October 11, 1949.
