METHODIST SUNDAY SCHOOLS
SCRIPTURE EXAMINATION RESULTS
Scripture examinations conducted by the North Canterbury Methodist Sunday School Union attracted an entry of 513 scholars from 39 schools. The follow]’, .g are the gold medallists and first winners:—
Medallists.—Junior grade: Joan Martin, Tai Tapu (100 marks). Intermediate grade: Beverley File, Nelson (99), Senior grade: Moira Howarth, New Brighton (98). First prize winners:—
Junior Grade.—Joan Martin, Tai Tapu (100); Diane Muirson, Bryndwr, and Graeme Crothall, Durham Street (99J); Audrey West, Ashburton (9f>); Robin Genn, Opawa, and Margaret Sutherland, Tai Tapu (98); Derek Russel, Nelson, Roger Whyte, Ashburton. William Ritchie, Cambridge Terrace, Gillian Alexander, New Brighton, Barbara Bremner, Opawa, Pamela Dunstan, Oxford, and Barbara Bennett, Tai Tapu (97). Intermediate Grade.—Lois Campbell, Wainoni (100) (having won gold medal last year, is not eligible for it this year); Beverley File (99), Alan Franklin, Redcliffs (98); Shirley James, Cambridge Terrace, Zoe Hartmont, St. Albans, Shirley Smith. Somerfield, and Marie Gamblin, Sydenham (97).
Senior Grade.—Moira Howarth, New Brighton (98); Barbara Darling, South Brighton (97). The Virtue Memorial Prize was won by Lois Campbell, Wainoni.
Shields, awarded to the schools with the greatest percentage of passes, were gained by:-—“A” shield, for schools with more than 40 scholars, South 1 Brighton: “B” shield, for schools of 21 to 40 scholars, Redcliffs; "C” shield, for schools 20 and under, Oxford.
