WATER SUPPLY FOR ORCHARDS
Petition by horotane VALLEY RESIDENTS A petition from 22 residents of Horotane valley for an improved water supply in the valley was received by the Heathcote County Council last evening. In dry seasons, saw the letter from the pctit’oners. considerable loss was suffered by growers who were unable to water their trees and crops. In many cases whole crops were being lost and orchard trees i were dying through lack of "’ater. W. B. Laing. Horotane valw really needed a subsidiary reservoir of its own. said the chairman (Mr *• W. Freeman). An engineer’s report on the watt supply to the valley will be obtain*® by the council, which will then consider raising a loan for the suggesw° improvements.
