TAX REFUNDS IN AMERICA
(Rec. 8 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Feb. 24. The United States Government has paid 2,297,542.000 dollars in tax rerunds for over-payments last year. The largest individual refunds included those to the movie producer, Mr Darryl Zanuck and his wife, who each received 174.973 dollars: the actress. Ginger Rogers (23,208 dollars), and the Secretary of Defence, Mr James Forrestal (13,058 dollars). The largest corporation refund went to the Curtis Wright Corporation, which was paid 35.123,401 dollars. Interest on refunds, paid at the rate of 6 per cent., cost the Government 56,530,924 dollars.
