WHARF DISPUTE AT MELBOURNE

(Rec. 10 p.m.) MELBOURNE. Feb. 25. Twelve hundred watersiders are refusing work, and 12 ships are without labour. Others will become idle as they arrive, because of the dispute. The men want payment from 9 am. each day, irrespective of the time when they begin work. A general stoppage is threatened, involving many overseas ships.

Naval Flying Research.— An aircraft carrier with a flexible landing deck, consisting mainly of rubber, and a jet fighter with a skidding under-car-riage. instead of wheels, are being used in experiments which may greatly improve naval flying, says the “Daily Telegraph.” Details are still secret.
