CLIMATE OF WESTERN SAMOA
MEDICINAL PROPERTIES OF LIQUOR LAKE SUCCESS. February 24. Sir Cafl Berendsen (New Zealand) told the Trusteeship Council of the United Nations to-day, that liquor helped Europeans to overcome the detrimental effect of the hot, humid climate of Western Samoa. He was replying to Mr Victor Carpio (Philippines), who asked whether all the spirits and liquors imported to the territory were used exclusively for medical or industrial purposes.. Sir Carl Berendsen said that liquor had medicinal properties for those not accustomed to the climate. The council is considering the annual report on Western Samoa, which is under New Zealand administration.
