DISCIPLINE FOR YOUTH
Sir, —Years ago the City of Liverpool was troubled by a set of hooligans. These were in gangs with leaders. When the theatres, concerts, and pictures were over, the people going home were set on, assaulted, and robbed. Then Mr Justice Day called a halt. The police arrested many of the louts and they were tried. Mr Justice Day ordered the cat to be used just as mercilessly. There was a lasting, heavenly peace in the city.— Yours, etc., VERB. SAP. Hanmer Springs, February 20, 1949.
