FARM WORKER’S WAGES
Sir,—A farm worker (age 21) works (harvesting) from sunrise till sunset, seven days a week, and earns £4 15s; no bonus or overtime. The £4 15s is equal to £6 15s in town, and he has to find his own transport to the nearest township on Friday nights. It is about time the New Zealand farm workers woke up and formed a union to bring their standard of living up a bit.—Yours, etc., TRACTOR DRIVER. February 21. 1949.
