WEST COASTBULLER TOURNAMENT

POST-SECTIONAL PLAY Play in the West Coast-Buller Women’s Centre's tournament at Westport was resumed yesterday on the Westport Returned Services’ Club green, when fours with three or more wins of the four rounds played, took part in post sectional play. The green had dried out considerably after heavy rain, but a strong southerly wind made conditions difficult. Results of the first round matches were:—Mesdames Foreman (s). Hill, Gallagher and Wills (Reefton) beat Mesdames Alexander (s), Paterson. Geary and Alderson (Cobden), 25-14; Mesdames Hennessy (s), M. Crowley, Crowley and Philpott (Spreydon) beat Mesdames P. Morgan (s), P. McDonald W. Seaton, and J. Paul (Westport), 22-13; Mesdames R. Longstaff (s), McEnaney, F. Manson and Sheard (Blaketown) beat Mesdames Murray (s). Mulholland, Mclndoe and Corby (Seddonville), 22-21; Mrs Britten (s), Adcock, and Spearman (Sydenham) beat Mesdames Warwick (s),' Barrow. Laing and Boote (Dunollie), 29-9; Mesdames Mara (s). Sutherland, Piercey and Ballantyne (Westport R.S.) beat Mesdames W. D. Wilson (s). W. Spence, J. McGreevy and A. Golding (Westport R.S.), 21-16. Fours which drew byes were Mesdames Knowles (s). Brown,• Williams and Walkin (Blackball); I. Reid, Gough, Glenn and Payne (Westport R.S.), and L. Smith (s). I. Colvin, A. Neill and I. Neill (Westport R.S.). The tournament will conclude to-day.

WATSON SHIELD MATCH R.S.A. 22 beat Cashmere 13 in a Watson Shield match played at Cashmere. The R. team was W. Chapman (lead), A. Rhodes. B. O. Priddis, and C. W. Spearman (skip), and the Cashmere team R. M. Jackson (lead), C. J. Morrison, L. S, Smith, and G. Tatterson (skip). “THE PRESS” BEATS “STAR-SUN” Fours representing “The Press” and “Star-Sun” played yesterday afternoon on the Christchurch Bowling Club’s green. After an interesting match “The Press.” Hoffman, Archibald, Stickle, and Archer (s) beat “Star-Sun,” Faulkner, Crawford, Haley, Neill (s), by one point, 25-24. LADIES’ DOMINION BOWLING TOURNAMENT Christchurch, March J-4. inc., 1949.
