AIR TRANSPORT OF STUD RAMS
The transport of stud sheep by the Railways Department’s inter-island air freight service is now in full swing. Last month more than 100 stud rams were from Masterton-Feilding* to points as far south as Invercargill. One load from Feilding to Invercargill was taken by road and air in 12 hours. The transport of sheep is now done in bulk in preference to having the animals crated. The inside of the aircraft is divided in pens by hurdles, between 30 and 40 animals being carried on each trip. The air service gives breeders and farmers a quick method of transport that is without ill effect *o valuable stock.
