CRITICISM OF AIR BOOKINGS

More criticism of the through booking system for air travel between New Zealand and Australia was made by Mr F. J. Armstrong in a report to the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association at a meeting on Wednesday. Although bookings were made months in advance. said Mr Armstrong, on reaching Sydney a traveller often found that no accommodation could be found for the return journey. Also on arrival in Auckland, bookings through to the south were found to be unreliable, causing extra expense and delay. The report, was supported by Mr E. T. Beaven, and Mr C. S. Peate, who also detailed experiences of difficulty with air bookings. It was decided to set up a committee of Messrs Armstrong, Peate, and Beaven to inquire from National Airways Corporation.
