HOSPITAL BUILDING
The final account for building operating theatres at the Christchurch Hospital was £38,278 10s 4a, said a report to the board on Wednesday. The original contract price was £34,586, additional work costing £2500 was approved during the job. and unforeseen extras amounted to £1250. Building work on the chest clinic was complete, except for the installation of the miniature radiographic plant and incidental equipment. A temporary plant could be installed pending the arrival of the board’s own equipment. The hearing-aid clinic was almost one-half complete. Approval was given for payment of a progress claim of £6357 for erection of a medical officers’ residence at the Chatham Islands. The contractor was now working on the X-ray department building in Christchurch. The board’s works department has converted part of the dental suite into a flat for the resident medical officer at the Christchurch Hospital.
