DICKENS ANNIVERSARY
The Christchurch branch of the Dickens Fellowship celebrated the birthday of Charles Dickens (February 7) at the week-end home of Mr R. S. Cock£ and Mrs Cocks at Diamond Harbour recently.
Miss A. G. Musgrove, who presided, read a number of letters from crippled Children in London who had received parcels from the Christchurch branch. Such help to the afflicted was in keeping with the boundless sympathy of Dickens for the weak and unfortunate as shown in his life and works, she said.
Greetings were received from other branches, including Portsmouth, where Dickens was born. Sir John Hay Beith (lan Hay) wrote expressing his thanks to the branch for its congratulations on his election to the presidency of the London branch.
