D. L. WOON TO PLAY VON NIDA The Christchurch amateur golfer, D. L. Woon, has accepted the Christchurch Golf Club’s offer to play Norman von Nida, the Australian professional, in an exhibition match to be played over 18 holes on the club’s links on March 19. Von Nida is expected to arrive in New' Zealand early next month to play a series of exhibition matches throughout the Dominion.
TEMPLETON CLUB The annual meeting of the Templeton Golf Club was held recently in the Pioneer Sports Club. The following officers were elected:—patron, Mr J. G. Carter; president, Mr G. P. Anderson; vicepresidents, Messrs J. Allen and I. Sewell; club captain. Mr E. G. Legge; vice-cap-tain. Mr R. E. Dunne: committee, Messrs M. Meikle, G. S. McHerron. B. W. Shipley, G. Mclntosh. A. Earl, and G. Day; auditor. Mr G. W. A. Green. The chairman reported that the club had had a successful year and the accumulated funds now stood at £llOl 13s 4d. The course was improving steadily as a result of the programme laid down by Mr W. M. Horton. It was decided that the season open on March 13. ■
