FRENCH RAILWAY COLLISION
DEATH ROLL RISES TO 50 (Rec. 7 p.m? PARIS, February 20. Sixteen more bodies have been found in, the wreckage of the MetzDijon express, which collided with a locomotive near Vesoul late on Friday night. This brings the deaths to 50. CYPRUS AND GREECE COMMUNISTS DEMAND UNION (Rec. 7 p.m.) NICOSIA. February 20. Hundreds of people shouting “We want union with Greece,” paraded through the streets of all towns and villages as the Akel (Communist) Party and trade unions organised political rallies throughout Cyprus. Left Wing speakers invited all Right Wing Greeks to join forces and present a solid front in the demand that Cyprus be united with Greece.
Mummy Found in Russia.—A 2000-year-old male mummy with wild animals tattoed on its chest, has been found in the Altai Mountains, says the Russian Academy of Sciences. The mummy has been preserved by freezing temperatures. Articles in the tomb included a magnificent chariot, which was probably the hearse, leather carpets. wooden animals and figures covered with a thin layer of gold, bronze mirrors, jewellery and furs. The body is believed to be that of a tribal chief. —Moscow, February 20.
