N.S.W. AMBULANCE BAND TO VISIT N.Z.
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, February 20. Negotiations were being made for B visit to New Zealand of-the St. John Ambulance Brigade Band of New South Wales, said Mr A. H. Baile, the Australian judge, at the end of the Mew Zealand brass band contest on Saturday. It was a very good band, he said, and he hoped his opinion would be shared by the people of New Zealand. The popular appeal of good band music was shown on Saturday night when Aucklanders and visitors flocked to the Town Hall to hear a concert, which was a fitting finale to the week’s contests. Winning bands and bandsmen, assisted by local artists, provided an entertaining programme. The Mayor (Mr J. A. C. Allum) presented the trophies and prizes to successful bands, groups, and soloists.
