ALLIED INVASION OF EUROPE
HINT GIVEN TO GERMANS (Rec. 10 pan.) LONDON, Jan. 26. Reuter s Frankfurt correspondent Major Daniel Murphy, of the unitea States Army Historical Division, revealed that an advertisement in an unidentified British newspaper one week before D Day calling on British citizens to enter claims for property damaged by American troops in Britain gave Lie Germans a firm indication that invasion was close. German generals interrogated afterwards indicated that the advertisement gave them a strong hint. The Wehrmacht s intelligence service correctly concluded that the advertisement heralded a substantial movement of troops.
