STATE DEPARTMENT ISSUES DENIAL

(Rec. 7 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 25. The. United States to-day categoriHungarian charges that the United States Minister to Hungary (Mr Seldon Chapin) was guilty of improper activities in connexion with the case of Cardinal Mindszenty. The State Department said that these imputations were contained in the Yellow Book issued by the Hungarian Government on the arrest of Cardinal Mindszenty on treason charges. The Yellow Book alleged that Mr Chapin was in close contact with Cardinal Mindszenty and that the American Legation had asked for and received military information about Hungarian and Russian troops. „ T S e J S J? te Department said that the United States had full confidence in Mr Chapin.
