ANTI-SEMITISM IN ENGLAND

Sir,—The Christmas slogan is “Peace on earth, goodwill to men.” We have a fair share of both in New Zealand It is difficult to credit that a Christian “person” would profane the season by acrimonious discussion of others, or their religion. Here is a substitute thought from “English Cavalcade’: “Life is not only doing, but being and doing without.” Many people in many countries have learnt this lesson, bitter or sweetly, according to circumstances or temperament We have escaped the bitter. Some have "done without,” to assist others to butter, meat. etc. Our sloga’n should not be “Having not doing.” but might be “Having, being, and doing something constructive.” instead of showing illwill toward the way of life of others.—Yours, etc.. NOT CONTROVERSIAL. December 15. 1948.
