MAIL DELIVERIES

Sir,—l came to live at the “Cutting,” Redcliffs, 48 years last May. At that time our mails were delivered right up to our doors between 9 a.m. and noon. Now it is 1.30 to 2 p.m. before we receive letters in boxes at our gates. To expedite delivery, I would suggest that letter carriers be provided witih motor-cycles.—Yours, etc., F. J. HAMILTON.

December 13. 1948. [The Chief Postmaster, Christchurch,' replies to this letter: “Considerable extensions have been made to the deliveries from time to time, and these have involved rearrangement of walks. The later delivery now includes the mail from the steamer-express. The use of motor-cycles in closely built-up areas does not facilitate deliveries.”]
