MAN CRUSHED BY TRUCK BODY (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. ‘l4. A man was fatally injured, when he was crushed between the chassis and the tray of a tip truck at the yard of J. T. Shanks’ Shingle Supplies, Ltd., Lower Hutt, this afternoon. He was: John Thomas Shanks, a company director, aged 50, of 8 Hathaway avenue, Lower Hutt. Mr Shanks was working under the tray of the tip truck when the tray suddenly fell, trapping him between the chassis and the tray. He was dead before he was released. Mr Shanks was a married man with a fmily. MINER SEVERELY INJURED From Our Own Reporter GREYMOUTH, December 14. Severe injuries were suffered by Herbert Maurice Satterley, aged 28, of Taylorville, a mine trucker employed at the Dobson State Mine, while working on backshift last night. It is believed that Satterley was crushed between a coal box and the roof of the mine. His injuries include severe laceration of the right arm and hand, necessitating later removal of the index finger, head injuries, crushing injuries to the chest, and injuries to the back. He was removed to the Grey Hospital, and his condition was reported to-day to be satisfactory.
