Major D. A. Caughley, New Zealand Regiment, has taken up his appointment as General Staff Officer, second class, at Southern Military District headquarters, Christchurch. Major Caughley w?s formerly GSO II to the Central Military District. Wellington, and served during the war with the 19th Regiment. For some time he was brigade major to the 4th Armoured Division. Mr S. G. Robinson, president of the South Canterbury Homeservicemen’s Association, has been elected a Dominion member of the British Legion, which is the largest organisation of former servicemen in the British Empire. He is one of the few New Zealanders to become a member of the organisation, which has 4458 branches and 2161 women’s sections. The Rev. C. W. Duncumb. minister m charge of the Timaru Baptist Church, has accepted a call to Morrinsville. Mr A. B. McLauchlan, officer in charge of the Price Control Division of the Department of Industries and Commerce in Christchurch for the last 12 months, has been transferred to Wellington as Divisional Controller, and will leave on Friday. Mr H. F. Larsen, district officer of the department in Christchurch, will carry out Mr McLauchlan’s duties in addition to his present work. Mr George Dash, who has been a member of the South Canterbury Electric Power Board for the last 18 years, including 14 years as chairman, was re-elected chairman at the annual meeting of the board yesterday.
