TEACHERS’ REMOVAL EXPENSES
GOVERNMENT TO MEET COST (P.A.) WELLINGTON. Sept. . 24.* The Government has agreed that under certain conditions removal expenses of teachers in ptrolic schools 'will be paid, said the Minister of Education (Mr T. H. McCombs) to-day. “This is. in effect, an extension to teachers of the general regulations covering movement in the ordinary course of promotion of officers in the Public Service;” said the minister. “Teachers in Maori schools being under the control qi the Public Service Commission already have their removal expenses paid. Certain other classes of teachers also have this right—those who are compulsorily transferred without an increase in salary because of a change in the grade of their schools. The new provision, however, extends the payment of removal expenses to anv teacher moving on promotion from a position in which he has completed threfe years’ service. The maximum amount payable for the removal of furniture is £62, and the provision will operate from October 1.”
