MINOR FIRES
The Christchurch Central Fire Brigade answered calls to four minor fires late yesterday afternoon and in the evening. Three were to chimney fires, at 42 Derby street, St. Albans, occupied by C. King, at 4.50 p.m.; 499 Manchester street, St. Albans, occupied by R. Sharp, at 6.20 p.m.; and 129 Stanmore road, Linwood, occupied by C. H. Brooks, at 7.12 p.m. The fourth call was to a grass fire on a vacant section in Dunarnnen street, owned by the State Housing Department, at 6.12 p.m.
