SCHOOL BUILDING PROGRAMME
CHRISTCHURCH PROPOSALS (From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, July 21. The building programme of the Canterbury Education Board was outlined by the Minister of Education (Mr T. H. McCombs), replying to a question from Mr R. M. Macfarlane (Government. Christchurch Central) in the House of Representatives to-day, as follows: North Christchurch: additions to schools at Papanui, Waimairi, Shirley, and Burwood. New schools at Mahars road this year, and later at Quinns road. Mcßratneys road, and Paparoa street. An intermediate school at Heaton street. East Christchurch: additions to schools at Linwood north, Linwood avenue, Woolston, and South Brighton. An intermediate school at St. Heliers street, Linwood. The board is, considering acquiring a site for a side school to Woolston at either Dyers road or Bamford street. South Christchurch: addition to schools at Opawa, Somerfield, West Spreydon. Beckenham, and Redcliffs. An intermediate school at Ensors road. West Christchurch; additions to schools at Fendalton, Wharenui, and Riccarton. New schools at Wairarapa road, Ham road, and Waimairi road (Burnside road). An intermediate school at Kirkwood avenue.
